What is the language exchange?

The language exchange aims to help you improve your language abilities, meet new friends, learn about other cultures and help others with their language learning.

How does it work?

1. Find a language partner

With more than 12,000 international students from more than 130 countries, our campus is one of the most diverse and multicultural in the UK, so there's sure to be a language exchange partner for you.

Have a quick browse of the languages on offer, if your language isn't listed, just email us at languagezone@leeds.ac.uk and we will be happy to add it.

2. Join the community

So you've found your language now it's time to create your profile

3. Start talking

The Language Exchange provides the initial contact, but the when, where and how often you contact one another is then up to you.

Get to know each other first by exchanging emails or chatting via text. Decide between yourselves where you would like to meet up. It could be in person in a cafe on campus or online via video chat whatever works best for you both.

Our language exchange user guide has more tips on how to have successful language exchange meetups, and our FAQ's should answer any questions that you have, but if not, then send us an email to languagezone@leeds.ac.uk
